Child of God

If the enemy came to lay his claim,
would you bear the seal of the Holiest Name?

The above is the hook for Book Two of my TRUTH series, TRUTH IN THE WORD. The question reflects the message interwoven into the novel about the Holy Spirit. Coincidentally, the Bible verses I chose to memorize this week are about the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:15-16 says, “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage to fear, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God” (KJV).

When I used to work in banking many years ago, I was a notary. I had a special tool that would crimp a raised seal onto a document, indicating that I had witnessed the person signing. The seal verified the signature was authentic and not forged by anyone else.

In Ephesians 1:13, we are told, “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise” (KJV). When we accept Christ, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit. And my verses for this week remind us the Holy Spirit identifies us as “children of God” (Romans 5:16).

So, the enemy (the devil) can and will try to make us stumble. He may attempt to cloud our thoughts. He may whisper that we aren’t good enough… or keep dredging up our past mistakes to paralyze us from moving forward. But, Friends, if we have truly accepted Jesus as our Savior, we have the seal of God. The Holy Spirit says we belong to our Father in Heaven… we bear the seal of the HOLIEST NAME!
