When the forces of darkness masquerade in the light,
is your sword sharpened in TRUTH and wielded to fight?
This question is the hook for NEVER FORGET THE TRUTH, Book Three in the TRUTH Trilogy that releases tomorrow, April 2. So, what is the meaning behind this question?
One of the messages woven into this fictional thriller novel is the importance of studying God’s Word, so we are armed and ready when the enemy attacks. In Ephesians 6, Paul details the pieces of our spiritual armor, and in verse 17, we learn that “the sword of the Spirit… is the word of God” (KJV). A sword can be an offensive as well as a defensive weapon. When we study God’s Word daily, we are already on the offense because we know the TRUTH. And if we know the TRUTH, we can easily recognize Satan’s lies. Then, when the enemy, the devil, sneaks out in a beautiful disguise, feeding us lies, we can defend ourselves with the scriptures just as Jesus used scripture against Satan when He was tempted in the wilderness in Matthew, chapter 4.
Here are two verses that I referenced as I studied this message.
- “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” Matthew 7:15 KJV.
- “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 KJV
