Set free…
It fluttered its wings, light and carefree, seeming to have no worry or burden, coming close for a second then zipping away, as if playing a game, taunting me to chase after. I love photographing nature, capturing the variation in God’s Creation, so when this amazing creature paused flight and landed on the ground in front of me, I decided that was my cue for a photo shoot.
And to think that this creature with wings, detailed in such an array of vivid shades of blue, moving with such freedom, was once a caterpillar eating as if desperately trying to fill a gigantic void inside that could never be filled.
In John 6:35, Jesus says, “…I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst” (KJV). We enter this world much like the hungry caterpillar, searching for something that will make us feel free to flutter and soar like the butterfly. But only Jesus can fill our void. Only Jesus can transform us into a new creation. Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “…if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (KJV). Only Jesus can fill the void. Only Jesus can set us free from the bonds of sin and death.
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1 KJV
