Seek His Face…
There is something about standing beside the ocean, feeling the perfect comfort of the sun’s heat on my skin mixed with the cool breeze sweeping off the water, and looking out at the expanse of the sea in its magnitude, extending further than my eyes can see… watching the waves crashing in a display of unfathomable power… and knowing that beneath the water’s surface, a plethora of life is sustained even into its unsearchable depths. Surrounded by the evidence of a sovereign Creator, a calm from within reminds me that I’m not alone. The very hand that molded me carries me through the chaos. His breath fills my lungs as the smoke from the encompassing flames seeks to smother and consume me. The joy of His love trumps the present pain, indwelling me with peace that can only be explained by His unending mercy and grace. Because of His presence, I can sing through the tears, dance in the rain, and splash in the puddles. Because of His presence, I am never without reason to give praise even in the storm.
In Psalm 27:8, David says, “When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek” (KJV).
May we seek God’s face.
