Mr. Right

Mr. Right

She had been searching for Mr. Right. The void in her heart must have been yearning desperately to be filled. Here she was after five attempts at marriage and a man she had never married, and she was walking to the well… alone… all by herself. As she approached the well, she had no idea she was about to meet the One, the only ONE whose love could fill the void.

In the walk of life, the desire for happiness sometimes takes us on this wild chase. We often perceive that we will finally be satisfied if we can make more money… if we can afford our dream home… if we can meet the perfect spouse to share our lives with… if we land the perfect job… if we find fame in the eyes of the world… if… if… if… if we can just have or accomplish these things, the void inside us would finally be filled.

But is it ever filled? Are we ever satisfied with any of these things?

The enemy loves to dangle shiny objects in front of us, just as he tempted Eve with the apple. James 1:14 states, “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed” (KJV), and 1 Peter 5:8 warns, “… your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (KJV). If he distracts us with worldly desires, he keeps us veering off the path to the only One that can truly fill that void.

This week, I studied the story of the woman at the well in John, chapter four, and I kept coming back to the fact that the scripture points out this woman had been married five times and was in a relationship with a man she was not married to, yet she was walking alone. But when she arrived at the well, she was not alone. Jesus was there waiting for her.

Friends, we are not alone. Jesus is there waiting.

This week I chose John 4:14 as my verse to memorize and add to my spiritual armor. I hope you will memorize it with me.

“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
John 4:14 KJV
